The American Institute of Architects and USA Today Travel teamed up to find the best buildings in America — and three northeast South Dakota buildings made the list.
In South Dakota, tourist favorites like the Mt. Rushmore Visitor Center in Keystone and the Corn Palace in Mitchell were included in the list of structures visitors should see. So were historic and unique sites from throughout the state.
See what is included in the must-see South Dakota buildings from the northeast region.
The Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad Depot (now Burlington Northern) was built in 1911. It was the fourth and largest depot built by this company in Aberdeen, according to information from the Dacotah Prairie Museum. The first two were torn down and replaced by larger ones, and the third one burned down.
